Truth be told, I don't know why I'm including this blog on my art website. I don't know how often I'll add to it, I don't know if anyone will actually read it and I don't think I'm all that great of a writer but... I do want to be able to connect with people through my art and through my words. I do want this website to be more than just a spot where you send me cash and I send you my art, although I hope you do that too because I, like so many of us, need to eat and pay my rent... But I have struggled with the idea of turning my creativity into an income stream, off and on, for many years. I have struggled with the idea of "being a brand" and of comodifying myself just to keep sane and fed. Hustle culture is killing so many of us as artists, but how else do we survive in this world and still have the energy to create?
I mean, are we all just here on this planet to consume and destroy, or is there a greater experience to be had? And while I doubt my tiny blog, on my little website, in a world of billions of people and limitless experiences will be any major eye opening experience on your path to existential growth, perhaps it can at least be more than... just a store.
